was Barnstormer in the back of astroworld?? If yes, then it's gone.  It would be cool to walk over the bridge to the reliant stadium. It would bring memories back to you, thinking of Astroworld. If you look at www.oldastroworld.com under page 3 of the album you will see that general area.

Where are you Briguy and PKD Fan?

I havn't been on lately as it seems UT's just gonna be sitting there for a while, they just appointed a new GM at SFA <the former GM from SFNO> & other than some new blacktop in HH,a boatload of new trash cans & hopefully 400 additional seasonal employees there isn't a whole lot going on at the park for 06.

We are in fact loosing yet another ride though, the Iron Eagle<zamperla roto-shake> is being removed to the tune of $80,000 due to it's unreliability. That leaves SFA with zero inverting flats of any kind but at least I rode the eagle quite a few times back in the day when it was working like a charm.

Rip Iron Eagle 1994-2006.

I was by the park today and saw it from the east side next to SAM'S CLub. All I can say is that I was absolutely appalled and devastated at the destruction! From my vantage point, the only structures that I could see still standing were 1) Texas Cyclone, 2)Showcase Theater, 3)the four Astroway towers (with the cable hanging down on the ground!), and 4)the machine room from Greezed Lightnin. Everything from Waterworld westward is being leveled out. Of course, there is quite a bit of concrete to bust up, so I am sure that this is slowing their progress somewhat. Isn't it amazing that just barely 5 months ago, this was a functioning theme park? I have to be honest here - and I am not ashamed to admit it, but when I first saw the destruction, it just made me cry.   Sure, I have been reading about it, and looking at the pics that have been posted, but like I said, unless you see it first hand, then you really do not get the full impact. I did not have my camera with me at the time, but I will plan to go back out there tomorrow and get some pics to post. I will share them on either this forum, or on the Six Flags Houston website. Since I had ridden METRORail out to SAM'S and did not have my car, I only saw the park from the East side vantage point. I am sure that you can see more by going around back to the South side, and even more from the West side on Kirby drive.

BTW, did anyone catch the quote from one of the SFTP corporate clowns  who said in an interview that it was a "huge mistake to close Astroworld"! I read that and thought to myself - Well DUH! Come on now, it really does not take a rocket scientist to figure that one out, now does it Poindexter!?! (Sorry -had to vent there! <grin>)

Regards to all,

Steve Cumming

(Former SFAW Host)

No, Barnstormer was in the front of the park in the Coney Island area next to the Showcase Theater and across the way from Texas Cyclone.
