First of all, I hoped that every one had a Merry Christmas.
Some of us did take time off for the Christmas holidays, but there were crews there working Mon thru Fri.
This is likely to be my last report of the demolition at Astroworld. I will no longer be employed with Astroworld after Jan 2, 2006. The last word is Jan 31, 2006 is it and will be turned over to the real estate agency. Of course with new people driving Six Flags now, this could change. No, Astroworld as you know it, will not be saved at it's current location. This is a done deal and it would be very costly to turn it around.
Every ride has been dismantled, or is in the process of being dismantled except for Viper and Texas Cyclone. The crane for Viper is scheduled to be here next week. Texas Cyclone's lift motor, gear box and control system has been removed. The word is that Texas Cyclone's track will remain standing and the new land owner will be responsible for it's future.
The rides that were to be relocated to another park were taken down first so they could be re-installed. Whether they open this coming year or the next is unknown to me.
The rides that are for sale will be removed and stored until sold. Greezed Lightnin' Viper XLR-8 Looping Starship Carousel Steam Train (610 Limited) Gunslinger
The rest of the rides are being re-located to another park.
By now you should know where the other rides are going. Check the previous postings and pictures to find out.
Any updated info that I receive will be passed onto you. I will not post any rumors, but they are out there.
As of this print and to my knowledge, the property has not been sold.
