They are not. Only part of it will go to parks that have the same ride for spare parts.

Thanks for the update on the astroway!  Do you know of any type of skyride in Texas or OK?

For the most part, after the accident in SFMA in the early 80's, most parks have removed them.  Even Disneyland that used to have theirs go through the Matterhorn Mountain has been removed.

Apparently, the story goes like this (a person I worked with at Astroworld witnessed the accident.. her shop faced the cable cars at the time)...  The car was decending back into the station when a kid or kids (?) may have been jumping up and down in the car.  At the time, these gondolas had under cable grip devices.  So, the gondola's arm gripped the cable from the bottom side of the cable.  As they were jumping, the grip opened and the car plunged to the ground (not from the full height, but high enough).  Apparently, this same thing had happened at the Texas State Fair not too long either before or after.  The fate for these two was sealed and both were removed from the parks.

Other parks were required to retrofit the cable grips to grip from the top of the cable rather than below (Astroworld's were either already this way or they retrofitted them).  Of course, the grip could still come lose if someone was jumping or swaying, but the theory is that it would sit on top of the cable even if the grip were open instead of just plunging.

I want to reply to anyone who wants to know if there are any other Von Roll gondalas in Texas:

Well, THERE IS! There is a defunct one in San Marcous, Texas which is close to Austin. It is defunct but is not demolished. If I remember correctly, there used to be a small theme park named "aqua arena"?? Anyone know what im talking about??
